Community Service

The Special Needs Soccer Association (SPENSA) are in need of volunteers to help with these "special" players.  This program has been in existence for over twenty years giving an opportunity to physically and mentally disabled children to play the game of soccer.   The program is free to all participants and we rely on donations from the community for funding.  You can check our website at www.spensa.org for more information on the program.

We need at least 50 volunteers each Saturday of our Fall season at the Anheuser Busch Conference Center (Soccer Park) in Fenton.  We rely on volunteers from the local high schools, youth groups, soccer teams and individuals to assist these special players during their games and training sessions.  We assign each of our players a "buddy"  who works with them for the hour.  We also have coaches on the field to give them guidance.

All of our sessions will be at the Soccer Park.   If you cannot come out as a team, please let your players know that they are welcome to come out on their own.  We often sign for community service hours if needed.

This is truly a rewarding and memorable experience for everyone involved.  This program could not exist without our great volunteers.  Please contact me if you have any questions at volunteerspensa@gmail.com.  Thanks to all of you who have helped in the past. Hope to hear from you.

Gratefully,
Shirley McBroom
